Learn from Industry Leaders at the NAR Conference

There is an exceptional opportunity for you upcoming in Boston — to attend the National Association of REALTORS® Annual Conference & Expo. This is the first time in more than two decades the event will take place in Boston and presents an opportunity to get top notch training, insight, and expertise from around the globe on the best practices in real estate. In addition, it is a chance to meet with and network with REALTORS® from not only around the country, but the world, and to create a stronger referral network for yourself. On top of that — the NAR expo is the largest collection of real estate related services in one location – from technology to yard sign vendors to resources available for REALTORS® – and it’s your chance to take it all in right in your backyard.

CCIAOR is helping facilitate your attendance. We are providing buses at no cost to you to get to and from Boston each day. Whether you can take the time to attend every day — or even just one day, we believe you will find that time valuable in growing and sustaining your business.

The highlights of the conference include the General Session on Saturday with keynote speaker Mark Wahlberg and a Sunday morning inspiration session by Diana Nyad on the lessons learned from her 110-mile, 53-hour swim from Cuba to Florida at the age of 64.

Here are some conference sessions I saw that look awesome. You can view the whole schedule, here:

Create a New REALTOR Experience
Jeff Tobe will show you how to become a strategic partner with customers, and learn the importance of examining every one of our customer “touch points” — those opportunities you have to influence the customer experience. The consumer experience is changing rapidly, so you need to make sure you stay on top of your game.

Defending Your Commission
Michael Lee uncovers why there’s such downward pressure on commissions today and how you can get your clients to gladly pay you more than your competitors.

Cause Marketing: Keeping Up with Consumer’ Expectations
Caroline Pinal, the founder of Giveback Homes, shares how one company’s decision has transformed a community and its client base. Uncover how to select a cause, implement a program and get results from a business perspective.

Top Teams Share Secrets to Success
Some of the top real estate teams in the country share their strategies to build a successful team culture; learn successful systems of great teams; and discover how to motivate and inspire your team.

Building Your Business with Buyer Consultations
Evan Fuchs shares that buyer consultations can be your your secret weapon. If you work with buyers, you’re in the buyer representation business. And businesses don’t succeed by accident. Learn how to analyze buyer DNA (Desires, Needs, Ability) to determine how you can best help them, create an intentional home buying process for great service with minimal stress and set expectations to ensure smoother transactions.

Governance Sessions
The conference itself is essentially split into two different areas — the NAR Governance meetings and the NAR Conference sessions.

NAR Governance meetings can be quite valuable (full Governance Meeting Schedule here). It’s where all policies get set whether it’s the REALTOR public policy at the federal level, for example, crafting the official position of REALTORS on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the National Flood Insurance Program, or a host of other federal issues dealing directly with your business. AdditionallyBut, also internal association policies are set, such as revisions and changes to the REALTOR Code of Ethics, membership policies, and MLS policies. More than 90% of the committee meetings are open to sit in on and it’s a valuable way to learn about some of the trending issues around the country.
