REALTORS® fix up ‘home’ at Boys & Girls Club in Masphee

Boys and Girls club cleanup

An enthusiastic and hardworking group of Cape Cod & Islands Association of REALTORS® (CCIAOR), organized by the CCIAOR Young Professionals Network took time out of their busy schedules on Monday, June 20th to volunteer at the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod in Mashpee. From 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., volunteers weeded, pruned and completed general spruce up tasks on the grounds of the Club.

“I cannot thank the Association enough for their help! Children react to the environment around them and reflect back to what they see,” stated Ruth Provost, Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod Executive Director. “Having the grounds of the Club looking neat and clean makes a difference in how those children perceive their value and interact with the program.”

This year, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in an effort to strengthen communities & support the country’s youth. CCIAOR President Laura Usher said, “CCIAOR was immediately on board when we first heard about this 2016 initiative. It’s important for us to be involved in our community and we hope to make the Clean-Up Day an annual event.”

In addition to CCIAOR volunteers, several other local businesses contributed to the success of the day. Thank you to the 99 Restaurant for providing lunch for the volunteers, Maffei Landscape of Mashpee for donating landscape services and BLKP Forest Products of Wareham for donating mulch.

“The clean-up day was another great example of local businesses volunteering to do projects for our Club,” stated Boys & Girls Club Board President Jim Kiley. “When projects like these are completed at no cost to the Club by a local business, it enables us to channel our funds directly to the programs for 963 Cape children and teens who attend. We have a limited budget for our facilities maintenance so having help from volunteers like these wonderful REALTORS® is an important part of keeping our building and grounds in great shape. On behalf of the kids, thank you,” continued Kiley.
