Do you see yourself being in the real estate business on Cape Cod for many years to come?
If the answer to this question is ‘yes,’ then I would like to take a couple minutes of your time to tell you the importance and benefits of holding one of the five open volunteer leadership positions with our REALTOR® association.
Our volunteer leadership, more specifically, our board of directors, is responsible for setting the vision and values that guide our organization’s strategic and business plans.
It is important as an organization that we have a board full of local REALTORS® who care deeply about the industry and the community, bring fresh ideas to the table and are passionate about their work. This ensures that Cape Cod REALTORS® stay on the forefront of the real estate industry, and remain an invaluable part of the transaction process.
On a personal level, holding a volunteer leadership position is an incredible opportunity for growth as both a professional and a person. Being a leader in your profession challenges you to think big about your business and your industry. If you have an appetite for knowledge and learning, being on the CCIAOR Board of Directors can be a transformative experience as a real estate professional, and as a leader.
Yes, being on the Board of Directors can be a lot of work. However, I have never looked at it as a burden, but instead, as an opportunity. Volunteering to guide our organization isn’t taking time away from your business; it is time you are investing into your business. The skills and knowledge you gain from this experience can be directly applied to being a better REALTOR®, and will help you long after your board term has expired. I can tell you first hand, that it is well worth the time you invest in it.
In addition to our leadership positions, CCIAOR has an incredible volunteer opportunity coming up on Saturday, September 22nd at the Housing Assistance Corporation’s Big Fix event in Harwich.
This event is a day of service where volunteers help seniors, veterans and disabled homeowners in our community with home improvement and clean-up projects that they would be unable to do or afford on their own. All skill levels are welcome to help with tasks such as raking, weeding, pruning, simple paint jobs and more. Our goal is to have 40 REALTORS® on our team and to raise $2,500 for HAC. If you are interested in taking part, please check out this web page for more information.
So whether you’re seriously considering running for a board seat or just want to find a way to give back to the community, I enthusiastically encourage you to get involved! Even the smallest effort can help to raise the bar and improve the Cape Cod REALTOR® community for years to come.
Forms for the Board of Directors election can be found here. All forms – with the required amount of signatures – must be submitted by Friday, September 14th.
