‘The Cape Cod Commission’s mission is to…keep a special place special…

To protect the unique values and quality of life on Cape Cod by coordinating a balanced relationship between environmental protection and economic progress.’

Many members of the public don’t know the Commission’s mission statement, or that the Commission offers an enormous amount of information that Barnstable County REALTORS® can extract and modify – for free – to utilize for their own needs and those of their clients.

Heather Harper, the new Chief of Staff, presented a summary of the Commission then introduced several of her staff throughout the Session to review a few of the initiatives that they oversee to support the 15 Cape Cod towns. The agenda included a regional housing forecast and reviewed growth incentive zones, the future of North Eastham and its water quality management plan and ‘This Is Us’ – how data can help us tell stories.

Footnote: Cape Cod Commission is situated on one of the most charming Main Streets on the Cape. A lot is happening in Barnstable Village, however it also has a few of those perfect spots you find on the Cape where you can just relax and enjoy the sights and sounds. To find out what the real local flavor is all about, check out the Nirvana Coffee Company just up the street from the Commission where we purchased the morning’s coffee and breakfast.
